Join us for a learning journey about Black-led co-ops in DC.
Our Learning Journey is this weekend, and we are confirmed for the Black Workers & Wellness Center on Saturday!
Here’s our confirmed itinerary:
1. When: Saturday, March 18th, 4-5pm
What: Tour of Baldwin House member, Boe’s, urban farm! Join us to see how DC native, “Uncle Boe”, leverages hydroponics, aquaponics, solar power, and upcycling of discarded items to build food sovereignty; Baldwin House will one day be a site of one of his gardens!
Where: Next door to 5314 Dix St NE, Washington, DC 20019
2. When: Saturday, March 18th, 5:30-6:30pm
What: Tour of One DC’s Black Workers & Wellness Center
Where: 2500 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE, Washington, DC 20020
3. When: Sunday, March 19th, 11am
What: Teach-in and Q&A with Amanda Huron about DC co-op history
Where: Malcolm X Park- meet us on the northeast side of the park (near 15th and Euclid St NW) near the bathrooms. We’ll have blankets spread out- feel free to bring your own and join us for a picnic after the teach-in!
Please fill out this RSVP form so we can have an idea of who will be joining us- it’s free! For covid safety, we ask that everyone take a covid test beforehand. PCRs are preferred, but rapid tests the day of are sufficient as well. We will have additional rapid tests available on hand, and- as always- please take care of yourself and stay home if you’re feeling sick. Most of the events are outdoors, but please bring a mask with you if you come to the Black Workers & Wellness Center.
