Join us for a community workday this Saturday
Help us organize the mutual aid space on July 29th
Correction: The workday is this coming Saturday, July 29. Our previous email said it was happening in August. Sorry for the confusion! See you this Saturday!
In 2020, when the prior landlord tried to sell this apartment building to wealthy developers and displace the Black and brown tenants living there, we dreamed of stable housing and a mutual aid space that served everyone. So, we organized.
After numerous legal challenges and NIMBYs who tried to block us, we hopped on more zoom calls and strategized over more dinner tables. And still we organized.
When grant foundations and banks said it couldn’t be done, we organized our neighbors and communities to purchase Baldwin House. We got it done.
But guess what? The work to provide affordable housing and free clothing, food, and community meeting spaces in Ward 1 isn’t over. We’re just getting started.
Grab a broom, grab some gloves, and grab a friend. We need your support to beautify and clean up Baldwin House’s mutual aid space. Many of supporters like you turned out to help with Juneteenth but maintaining this space is going to take all of us working together for the long-haul.
