Beloved Community Incubator was Baldwin House’s first pro bono lawyer and they’ve provided steady pro bono legal support to us throughout this project.
Beloved Community Incubator (BCI) is a worker self-directed non-profit 501(c)(3) that supports and organizes resources for community-based cooperatives and collectives in the DC Metro area.
This newsletter outlines opportunities to connect with Beloved Community Incubator directly.
Save the date for BCI’s public launch of the DC Solidarity Economy Loan Fund (DC SELF) on Thursday, November 9th, from 6-8pm. Register for the digital launch event here. BCI led Baldwin House in creating our own community mortgage and we’re thrilled they’re launching a community loan fund in DC!
Check out earned media about BCI’s work - read their media page on their website and some select stories below:
Next City & Shelterforce wrote about the successful campaign to decriminalize street vending in DC
The Washington Post wrote about the Excluded Worker Coalition’s successful fight for direct cash support for excluded workers throughout the pandemic
The DCist wrote about their work as part of the DC Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network
Beloved Community Incubator would love to connect with you more directly! You can schedule a funder conversation here on their calendly
Here are the slides from the Funder Briefing on Thursday, Sept 21. Please check them out to learn more about BCI’s theory of change and work building the Solidarity Economy. Feel free to share broadly!
Thank you again so much for your support!
